Secure Wireless Authentication Network — hands-free access control replacing RFID keycards.
Problem
RFID keycards are cheap, ubiquitous, and trivially cloneable. We wanted hands-free entry with cryptographic identity, on a budget a senior design team could actually afford.
Approach
Ultra-Wideband distance measurement on custom PCBs — ESP32 paired with Qorvo DWM3000 modules, AES-128 over the channel, firmware in C++. I worked across hardware and firmware: schematic design in KiCad, assembly, and the integration testing that no one wants to do.
Outcome
A working tag-and-anchor system. Two custom boards from schematic to silkscreen.
